What our clients say about our tours

  • Markus displayed his exceptional birding skills in additional to wonderful people management skills.  Birds were obviously a delight and Markus was able to maintain his infectious enthusiasm for birds for the whole tour.  At the same time Markus was very considerate of various people’s needs to make the tour a memorable time for all.

    GR, Uganda
  • Dušan was great. He took charge of the group with enthusiasm. His birding skills are excellent. The office staff were super in responding to emails and answering questions. I have told my birding friends to consider Dušan and Rockjumper when they schedule their next trip.

    CF, Cuba
  • A first rate, very satisfying…tour that met all expectations. We missed two species we were especially interested in but our guide made an extra effort to find them and we were very pleased with him. A first rate birder. He is a great addition to the Rockjumer Team.

    IT, Private South Africa
  • Excellent isn’t really adequate to describe the skills and personality of Keith. Phenomenal would be closer to the truth.

    JA, Ghana 2015
  • I just wanted to pass on our thanks for a well organised trip. We had a ball in Cuba! Not only were the birds fantastic but the cigars, rum and country were mind-blowing. Our first RJ trip but I am sure that it won’t be our last. Well done to the team for arranging a hassle-free trip in a country where it can be difficult to organise things.

    T, Cuba
  • Greg de Klerk worked hard to get us the sightings, to ensure everyone got a “good look” and to keep us as safe and as comfortable as possible. I especially appreciated his additional information about field marks, behaviour, the habitat/area, history and culture.

    CG, South Africa
  • Markus is an exceptional guide, and I enjoy his dry wit. Despite a knee replacement only 3 months ago, I took this tout at this time in a large part because Markus was the guide.

    JN, Ghana 2015
  • David was notable in his high level of enthusiasm, how careful he is with identifications and how quick he is at spotting things. Our group was quite mixed in age and skills, and David was patient with members whose eyesight was not so good, and quick to get a spotting scope onto even difficult forest birds. I’d happily travel elsewhere with him and is every bit of what I could hope for in a guide. The overall group felt well run and there was always a plan B if one was needed. David’s knowledge and sense of humor also made him fun to travel with.

    MH, Lesser Sundas
  • I have been on birding trips for many years, but this is the first time with Rockjumper. The trip was easily the best birding trip I have ever been on. In particular, both David and Glen made life so easy and their birding knowledge was remarkable. Other members of the group were very easy to get on with. The birding was quite remarkable and it is difficult to pick out a highlight from the Birds of Paradise, the Chinese Crested Tern or the Madanga. There is no doubt that I will travel with Rockjumper again.

NH, Indonesia – West Papua Cruise 2016
  • Adam, “You are simply the best” and really showed me how one should bird and how to go about it. Our early morning walks in the forest gave me the impression that I was in the worlds finest concert hall with the greatest musicians rendering their best songs. I was humbled by this experience and will never forget it…

    JM, Mozambique 2015
  • Gareth was very considerate of all tour members and kept everything on schedule. He went out of his way to find bird species of particular interest to those on the tour and is a very enthusiastic about birding.

  • I cannot possibly say enough good things about Chris Sharpe; he did a spectacular job on this tour! His knowledge of the birds of the region is comprehensive, and he was very good about letting us know about their natural history in addition to field marks and ID. He was very enthusiastic and handled everything with unflagging good humor. Chris made sure we knew what to expect on each excursion and worked really hard to ensure that we all had the best possible chances to see those skulky and exciting forest birds. He would give us good guidance such as, “Strange as it may seem, right now you really want to be watching this piculet rather than that macaw,” and seemed remarkably good at keeping in mind who had seen what as we went along. He worked well with a group with varying levels of expertise, and was very patient with those of us struggling to get to grips with an outstanding number of new species. I don’t want to leave out our local guide on this tour … [who] was a great asset, very knowledgeable, personable, enthusiastic, and helpful.

    KH, Guyana II 2014
  • I was really pleasantly surprised about every aspect of the Oman & UAE tour. Forrest Rowland did an outstanding job in every way and he has a great sense of humour. This tour exceeded my expectations. The pace was just right, accommodations and meals were of high quality, and Forrest did a great job of organizing details and making sure everything ran smoothly. He found the species that were sought and had expert knowledge of where the birds were likely to be found and when was the best time to try for them. – JM

  • I just have to write and tell you how much I enjoyed the N. India trip and how superb the leaders are… You know that, you only have world class guides. The last two days made the trip ‘beyond expectations’ with the birds we saw in Saital… Erik and Rich worked so well together and both are so funny, such a great combination. I especially have to thank Rich for taking pictures for me: I can immediately tell which ones he took: they make clear memories that are memorable…. With much gratitude to RBT for bringing birds and mammals into my life.

    Northern India
  • My thanks to Keith and Glen Valentine for taking so much time in getting me on the birds. They are so patient and really nice.

MM, Remote Indonesian Islands Cruise 2017
  • I hope to go again with Clayton.

    MO, Sri Lanka 2013
  • Rainer established what each of the participants expected from the tour [Cape to Wiindhoek, South Africa] and then managed to excel expectations without seeming to try to do this. We saw all our favourite birds and animals and even plants. Yes we even enjoyed the wildflowers too! His birding skills, including recognition of calls, were exceptional. His effortless ability to manage logistics and his energy for making it happen, made this tour easy and stress-free; something I’m exceptionally grateful for. His enthusiasm for new finds (not just birds!) was totally contagious and added to the enjoyment. His broad knowledge met all my needs for information about this new continent – and that made this tour particularly satisfying for me.

    Cape to Windhoek
  • In the field, Keith and the local “Zen Birding Master’’ Uthai were an unbeatable combination. Their knowledge, persistence and patience were greatly appreciated. They tried to make sure everyone got the birds and were willing to go to great lengths to do so. Both had a great sense of humour and were a pleasure to travel with.
