What our clients say about our tours

  • Rockjumper and our guide, Forrest, put on an exceptional trip to Jamaica. All endemics spotted, great company, and great lodgings. Highly recommend this trip if anyone is looking for a relaxing week-long birding vacation.

    RD & DH, Jamaica
  • I would like to add my thanks to you, Crystal, and all the other people associated with Rockjumper for making this the best birding tour in which I have participated.  David’s leadership was superb as our trip bird count shows.  I would be happy to go with Rockjumper on future trips.  Thanks again for your assistance during the Mega South Africa trip.

  • For a first time – for any time – Clayton was terrific…

    FG & WG, Guatemala
  • Just a postscript to reiterate our appreciation for the wonderful tour around Madagascar you led. We both had a great time. Your enthusiasm and day-to-day attention to assure we all had a successful birding experience and overview of the unique biodiversity [is] not to be forgotten.

    JB & BB, Madagascar
  • The trip was excellent. It exceeded my expectations. All the travel went perfectly. Thank you so much for arranging it.

    EL, South Africa
  • I participated in the Jan-Feb [private] tour to the Philippines guided by Rich Lindie…. I have to say that Rich’s … indefatigable attempts to make our trip a success was exemplary in every way.  His birding skills are definitely well above the norm in birding companies I am familiar with (including some very elite companies.)  Rich is also enthusiastic, energetic, fun loving, patient and always in full control of his clients.  In short, he is in the elite echelons of the guiding profession and should be considered a valuable asset to your organization.  It is my intent to single out trips guided by him for my travel considerations.

  • Adam Walleyn went above and beyond to find just about everything there was to see. His knowledge of herps, mammals and birds is very comprehensive.

    RR, Madagascar
  • Both Eliza and I really enjoyed our trip with you. Great birds, animals, landscape and people. Your dedication and sincere interest in our wishes exemplify the perfect guide. It has been such a great pleasure getting to know you and traveling with you. I hope that we can do it again.

    E, Private (Eastern) South Africa
  • The B&BG Tour was the trip of a lifetime for me. Rockjumper did everything just right. The birds and animals, the accommodations, and especially Wayne were all top notch. Although Wayne is relatively new to Rockjumper, he is definitely a keeper – personable, a keen observer, and a natural leader. He really made the tour more than “just another birding trip”. This is certainly a tour that I would enthusiastically recommend to anyone, although I am seriously considering South Africa next.

Alison was wonderfully helpful, especially for finding a U.S. travel agent who booked affordable and reliable airline tickets for me.

  • Marius Coetzee is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced safari (field) guides I have met on my more than 30 trips to Africa. His knowledge of the bush and ability to work with his tracker to find animals is unique and appreciated. As an accomplished photographer, Marius knows how to position his vehicle to get the best photograph and has the patience to make sure that his guests see what they need.

  • The trip sounded good in the write-up but far exceeded our expectations.  The pelagic trips were outstanding.  The number of participants was perfect.  Erik knew the birds and their calls/sounds and was very effective in getting everyone to see the birds.  He called many pelagic IDs well before other people had even spotted the birds.  Erik’s skills in managing the participants showed and his sense of humour added to his effectiveness.  We thoroughly enjoyed our trip.

    DM & SM, New Zealand
  • My wife and I were part of a six person tour of South Africa that was led by David Hoddinott. Our trip was excellent and seamless. David was the perfect guide for our group and, as I’m sure you’re aware, is an extraordinary birder and bird finder…. Thank you to Rockjumper, and David especially, for taking the time to create such a wonderful trip for our group.

As always, I’m sure that it’s a challenge to accommodate numerous personalities within a group and David was great at it. We all liked him from day one and he was always positive and up for anything. He was an absolute joy to be with.

We’d previously been to Zimbabwe, Uganda, and Botswana and South Africa was a totally different experience. We really enjoyed the people that we got to meet and the sheer beauty of the country is breathtaking. David’s enthusiasm and pride of his homeland was inspiring and infectious. We can’t thank him enough for making it come alive for us.

And thanks to all who had a part in setting it all up. We’d happily recommend Rockjumper to anyone thinking about a trip led by you.

    EB, South Africa 2014
  • Tour was FANTASTIC and Wayne was a big reason for our enjoyment.

MM, Eastern South Africa II 2015
  • Adam Walleyn acted as a very experienced and skilful leader. He had an intimate knowledge of the birds and great skills in finding and showing them. His communication was extremely clear, to the point and flavoured with a good sense of humour. In the few difficult situations that arose due to flights, civil unrest, etc, he showed extremely good skills in handling these with a perfect balance between group decisions and executive decisions. A role model for a tour leader.

    BA, Papua New Guinea
  • We had a great time with Forrest Rowland in Colombia. A wonderful country. Forrest is a fantastic birder and a great guide.

    MK, Colombia 2017
  • Thank you both for a magnificent trip to Assam and Bhutan.  We still comment to each other daily on the many exciting experiences that we had.  Thank you, Glen, for the very detailed report that we received , it will allow me to check our records of the trip, and bring back memories. So much were we enthused that we’ve booked to go with Rainer on his Namibia trip.

    PB, Bhutan
  • David was a terrific guide and traveling companion. He managed everything from birding to people to logistics like a veteran. We’d love to travel with him again any time

    WW, Madagascar
  • Forrest is truly a pleasure. His bird-finding skills, both by sight and ear, are phenomenal, but even more striking is his singular personality and people skills. Always enthusiastic. Not only would I travel with Forrest again, I preferentially would select a tour if he was guiding.

    AF, Panama
  • Gareth was an excellent guide. He was always on hand to give help and advice when needed and didn’t favour one guest over another. His enthusiasm could not be faulted and local and birding knowledge faultless.
