What our clients say about our tours

  • The faster pace of the tour (South Africa Mega) was just what I wanted, and maximized chances for as many endemics as possible without adding more days.  Markus was on top of things throughout, his timing and logistics were flawless, and his spotting skills are excellent.  His precision served the group well and the group size (6) was ideal.  He also was great with the many mammals, positioning the vehicle for the best viewing and photography, and sharing information about life histories.  I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and just wish I could do it all over again!

    RB, SA Mega
  • Adam Walleyn went above and beyond to find just about everything there was to see. His knowledge of herps, mammals and birds is very comprehensive.

    RR, Madagascar
  • This was my third tour with Rainer and I was again impressed with his enthusiasm for birding. I know that sometimes when a leader does two back to back tours, they can be somewhat less enthusiastic than on the first tour. This was not the case with Rainer (or Glen either). Rainer was excited to show us each of the new birds and made certain that everyone got an excellent view. I had a special circumstance as I was recovering from a broken foot. Rainer made sure I was able to do everything on the tour without compromising the experience for the other participants. Without his help I would not have had such a superb experience. He is a very special young man.

  • Forrest Rowland was the consummate birding tour guide. He was very personable and friendly and a top-notch birder with excellent skills for getting us on the birds. He kept us informed about all logistical details. We will seek him out for another Rockjumper tour.

    CR & SR, Cuba
  • Thailand was truly a wonderful trip! Markus is unbelievable in getting everyone on the bird! His recognizing and scoping of the birds is superb. Beyond this he is [also] a very kind man with a great personality who keeps things on an even keel, making sure there is lots of laughter. Because of this the group “gelled” very quickly . I plan to do more Rockjumper tours because of the information and encouragement he gave me and I hope he is the leader of at least some of the tours.

    PSR, Thailand
  • Morocco was a fun and thoroughly enjoyable tour. How could it not be with David Hoddinott and Mark Beevers as leaders!!! They just make me want to go on more Rockjumper tours to see as many birds as I can. You have no idea how appreciative I am of them. They are great and generous and fun and so focused. I love that. They have an intensity that makes birding fun.

    MN, Morocco
  • Erik is a wonderful guide with great birding skills and the ability to help everyone possible see the bird. He is funny and has a pleasant manner to everyone at all times.

    EL, Japan
  • Enjoyed Clayton very much. He has great potential as a leader.

    BT, Sri Lanka 2013
  • Our Rockjumper birding  journey through Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda was an amazing experience, made even more fantastic by our young South African guide. Rainer Summer’s sensors are so fine tuned he can seek out and identify every single bird in the forest, desert and wetlands, by sight or sound. It seemed that he had permanent binos on his eyes and ears like satellite dishes! He shares his expertise and knowledge in a professional manner making sure that everyone saw each bird, providing information for all birders serious or beginners…. Our sincere thanks go to Rainer.

AS & HS, Tanzania & Kenya
  • My thanks to Keith and Glen Valentine for taking so much time in getting me on the birds. They are so patient and really nice.

MM, Remote Indonesian Islands Cruise 2017
  • Sonya and I really appreciate all of your hard work….that truly was one of our trips of a lifetime.  And that is saying something since that bar is constantly getting raised by all of our travel.  Rockjumper can definitely count us in as repeat guests and I would count it as good fortune if you were our guide again.

    RC, NBZ IV 2014
  • Dušan is an excellent field ornithologist with an encyclopaedic knowledge of bird song, taxonomy, and field identification marks. Ornithology is Dušan’s passion. He is also excellent with the clients – friendly, courteous, patient, and anxious that everyone sees all the birds and enjoys the tour. It was a great tour!

    JR, Ecuador
  • This was a great trip.  A terrific itinerary and we saw lots of birds and we saw tigers at Ranthambhore and Corbett.  Glen and [the local leader] were excellent guides—great spotting skills, and they made sure everyone saw the bird.  The logistics worked very well because Glen and [the local leader] were a great team.

    BG, Pvt Castleman India
  • Markus is an exceptional guide, and I enjoy his dry wit. Despite a knee replacement only 3 months ago, I took this tout at this time in a large part because Markus was the guide.

    JN, Ghana 2015
  • Gareth Robbins made special efforts to ensure everyone saw the wildlife. An amazing tour.

    JC, Madagascar
  • A massive thanks has to go to André, the ranger, he was exceptional. His knowledge of wildlife was incredible. We were able to learn so much about the animals, plants and he is the ‘bird’ guru!! We cant thank him enough for his time, going out of his way to show us everything possible, we saw everything.

  • The entire tour was truly excellent. David is an outstanding, world-class bird guide, talented, able-bodied, friendly and courteous. I would definitely travel with him again.

    JF, Southern India 2017
  • RBT guide, David Erterius, and local guide, Ansar Khan, were excellent! Their birding skills were off the charts, and were always mindful that all participants saw the bird whenever possible. They were a great team and always made sure that all went smoothly.

    CR & LR, Northern India
  • On a recent birding trip from Cape Town to Windhoek we appreciated Cuan’s range of talents. His keen eyes, knowledge of bird vocalizations and great enthusiasm for finding birds combine very nicely with his logistical expertise and delightful sense of humour. I was very pleased with the trip — well done, Cuan!
