What our clients say about our tours

  • Hi David. Just to say that we couldn’t have had a better trip. The more I think about it, the more remarkable it was. We couldn’t have asked for better encounters with our target birds and the mammal experiences were memorable. Thanks!!!
The entire entourage was impressed by your skills and leadership. I’m glad we could make this happen. Looking forward to future trips.

    DD, Private Uganda
  • Glen was great! His steady, unflappable leadership was the best and he got us on some terrific birds, never stopped trying, always looking. At the same time, he handled logistics very well and always with good humour. His enthusiasm for all things in nature and thoughtful attentiveness to the group made this a special trip.

    RB, Gabon
  • Recently back at home from our fantastic tour in Madagascar, I wanted to offer thanks to all for the excellent times we enjoyed.  For us, the exuberant and superbly-skilled leadership of Rich Lindie was a delight and gave us such a greater measure of understanding to the natural wonders as well as a bit of the cultural aspects of the unique island.  We had a great time, and we certainly saw a tremendous variety of the birds, mammals, and many other creatures as well as strange and wonderful plant life of the “Eighth Continent”.  Thanks to Cuan and all the staff for assisting in the planning stages.  Above all, however, thanks to Rich for giving his all to ensure a successful and thoroughly delightful tour…. From start to finish, a most memorable trip, and our highest recommendation to Rockjumper for the entire experience.

    TF, Madagascar
  • Both David and Rajveer were excellent guides. In fact, it seemed at times as though they were able to summon animals.

    RR, Northern India
  • David Erterius has an amazing memory for birds and bird calls. Our group had a variety of skills and interests, and he did a good job of balancing photographer’s and birder’s needs. As a birder with limited spotting skills, I especially appreciated his ability to get many of the birds in the scope and to give me special help when I was having trouble seeing the bird.

    BH, Northern India
  • The office staff are always so friendly in their response to emails, and I always feel that there is a personal relationship. That makes for good customer relationships. I met Rockjumper at an ABA conference years ago, and was impressed by them. I regret that I did not take the tour sooner. I have traveled with most of the major companies on more than 30 tours, and I feel that Rockjumper is superior in many ways, especially in having skilled and enthusiastic leaders.

    W, Uganda Birds & Gorillas
  • During Oct 19 to Nov. 6, 2010 I participated in the Eastern South Africa and Western Cape Extension tour. It is the ultimate tour if you are birding for the first time in the African continent. The diversity of birds is over-whelming and unlike birding in the tropical Americas, the birds are easy to see! I personally added 419 lifers! The pace of the tour was ideal.  Accommodations were top-notch and the meals wonderful. Keith Valentine is an unsurpassed tour leader.  Extremely knowledgeable yet very laid back, approachable and quick to laugh. I have been on many organized bird tours but none come close to the standards set by Rockjumper on this tour. The bar has been raised!

    TB, Eastern South Africa 2010
  • Dušan is an exceptional guide in all respects. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience, is courteous and diplomatic with the clients, and excellent with the local people. I could not ask for anything more. Thank you very much for providing this tour. For me, it was a success in every way. I will definitely recommend Rockjumper to anyone interested in birding in the future. You guys do a great job.

    BS, Guatemala 2017
  • This was my 8th tour with Rockjumper, so I obviously am a happy and loyal customer, and this tour was up to the standard I have come to expect. Heinz, our guide, was charming and funny, outstanding with the birds and excellent in dealing with logistics. I would be very happy to travel with him again. The Itinerary was well planned. Both our drivers were also great – friendly, extremely competent, and full of useful local information. The vehicles were comfortable and accommodations were much more luxurious than I am used to on birding tours. I could easily have stayed another three weeks.

    RL, Kenya & Tanzania
  • The guides for the tour, both the local guide and David Erterius, were exactly what I had hoped for: extremely skilled birders with extensive knowledge, who can find birds that I would never have seen on my own. On top of that, they are both very nice guys. I especially appreciated that both of them volunteered to skip lunch and go with me in search of Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher, a bird I had dipped the day before. Don’t ask me how they did it, but we managed to find it and I was able to make a great movie clip of the bird. This anecdote is a perfect illustration of the kind of dedication they had towards the participants.

    GM, Sri Lanka
  • Markus’s ability to find, ID, and scope birds for us (apparently simultaneously, sometimes along with photographing it) was absolutely amazing, and we ended up with some very remarkable sightings of what I gather are generally quite difficult birds. His knowledge of the birds of the region and their natural history is comprehensive, and his enthusiasm added immeasurably to our enjoyment of the trip. He was always on alert, calling out birds as we drove or walked, somehow kept track of what everyone had or had not seen well so far, and was very patient about repeating ID tips. He did a great job of keeping us informed of the daily plans – both logistics and, birdwise, the rationale for choices of where we would stop and what our current targets were. Though we were a small group, we did represent a range on the spectrum of watchers and listers, and Markus did a fine job of catering to different interests. Markus seemed to have an endless store of energy, and along with his guiding and organizing skills, he was a fun travel companion. He even provided us with copies of some of his fantastic photos from the trip at the end, so after each long day of guiding, he must also have been spending his evening time working on his photos.

    KH, Budget Bhutan 2015
  • David Hoddinott is the best!! He is tenacious about getting all participants on all birds!

    D, Madagascar Comprehensive
  • Greg de Klerk was one of the best guides I have – EVER. Excellent with bird ID, calls and habitat. And probably just as important in a group setting, VERY good with people, fun, friendly and left no one out. I have heard good things about Rockjumper Tours for years and now I see why. Keep up the good work.

JS, Best of South Africa: Cape & Kruger I 2016
  • Andy Foster was one of the best bird guides I’ve ever had. His knowledge of the birds is extensive, and his skills in finding them and getting his group onto them are excellent. Couple this with seemingly inexhaustible energy and unfailing good humour, and you have a close to ideal bird guide.

JC, Brazil – Atlantic Coastal Forest
  • [Cuan’s] enthusiasm for birding was unbeatable. He made every effort to make sure all members of the party saw every bird…. [He] respected all levels of birding knowledge and ability within the group, making those with beginning ability feel just as valued as the advanced birders.

    JC & SC
  • We enjoyed travelling with Steve Davidson. He is very knowledgeable and more than willing to assist anyone with getting on birds, and he takes time to explain where the bird is.

    JW & MW, Tasmania
  • André, who escorted us on four drives, is a superb tracker with great knowledge of the reserve and its denizens. He is also an expert on the birdlife of southern Africa and was able to bring the bush to life for us with knowledge of all that we saw.

  • Thank you both for a magnificent trip to Assam and Bhutan.  We still comment to each other daily on the many exciting experiences that we had.  Thank you, Glen, for the very detailed report that we received , it will allow me to check our records of the trip, and bring back memories. So much were we enthused that we’ve booked to go with Rainer on his Namibia trip.

    PB, Bhutan
  • Everything was done by all staff to make the trip safe, fun and targets (birds, lemurs, etc) were actively sought out

    MR, Madagascar
