David, I need to thank you again for the birding experience in Uganda. The mammals were spectacular, not to be missed, but it was really the birding that blew my mind. It is with a mixture of gratitude, wonder and definitely humbleness having been shown these birds by someone so ‘awesome’ that I say thank you again. It was so much fun for me. I was elated and still am when I think Uganda. As they say, it was priceless.

Our Rockjumper birding journey through Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda was an amazing experience, made even more fantastic by our young South African guide. Rainer Summer’s sensors are so fine tuned he can seek out and identify every single bird in the forest, desert and wetlands, by sight or sound. It seemed that he had permanent binos on his eyes and ears like satellite dishes! He shares his expertise and knowledge in a professional manner making sure that everyone saw each bird, providing information for all birders serious or beginners…. Our sincere thanks go to Rainer.AS & HS, Tanzania & Kenya
Forrest was an absolute joy to bird with. I’ve been to 25 countries birding and this was one of, if not the best, birding tour I have ever had the pleasure of being on.MA, Cuba
Markus was great, I’ve been looking forward to travelling with him. His birding skills and management of the group were both excellent.CM, Ghana 2015
A first rate, very satisfying…tour that met all expectations. We missed two species we were especially interested in but our guide made an extra effort to find them and we were very pleased with him. A first rate birder. He is a great addition to the Rockjumer Team.IT, Private South Africa
Rob Williams is the best guide I have ever birded with – wonderful birding and people skills.PM, Peru
Having known Chris for many years, we knew this was going to be a great tour. And it was. Chris is personable with a delightful sense of humor. One always feels comfortable around him. He takes excellent care of his birders (clients) by ensuring them what the daily plan is, where we are going and why. His birding skills are beyond excellent. He makes sure everyone sees the bird, if possible, explaining what we’re looking for and where. His ability to provide directions is a skill that goes a long way to making the bird spotting pleasurable and possible. Chris’s keen hearing ensures that birds that aren’t being seen have the potential to be called into view. Rockjumper is fortunate to employ Chris, an extraordinary individual. We look forward to traveling with Chris in the future.JM & MW, Honduras 2015
This was a great trip. A terrific itinerary and we saw lots of birds and we saw tigers at Ranthambhore and Corbett. Glen and [the local leader] were excellent guides—great spotting skills, and they made sure everyone saw the bird. The logistics worked very well because Glen and [the local leader] were a great team.BG, Pvt Castleman India
My wife and I were part of a six person tour of South Africa that was led by David Hoddinott. Our trip was excellent and seamless. David was the perfect guide for our group and, as I’m sure you’re aware, is an extraordinary birder and bird finder…. Thank you to Rockjumper, and David especially, for taking the time to create such a wonderful trip for our group.
As always, I’m sure that it’s a challenge to accommodate numerous personalities within a group and David was great at it. We all liked him from day one and he was always positive and up for anything. He was an absolute joy to be with.
We’d previously been to Zimbabwe, Uganda, and Botswana and South Africa was a totally different experience. We really enjoyed the people that we got to meet and the sheer beauty of the country is breathtaking. David’s enthusiasm and pride of his homeland was inspiring and infectious. We can’t thank him enough for making it come alive for us.
And thanks to all who had a part in setting it all up. We’d happily recommend Rockjumper to anyone thinking about a trip led by you.EB, South Africa 2014
This was our first tour with Rockjumper and it was absolutely fabulous. Adam Walleyn is by far the best bird guide we have ever had the privilege of working with. His combined qualities as the overall tour leader in terms of personality, ability to deal with whatever got thrown at him and interactive skills were all great. He was very good at keeping us informed of what was planned and was happening next. He was very good at imposing a gentle but essential discipline on the group – rotation in the procession, rotation of positions in the buses, ensuring that everyone got to see the bird – all made for a really good functionality in the group. His sharpness in the field, knowledge of bird calls and bird identification were simply remarkable.PF & BF, Madagascar 2017
Heinz was incredible. His knowledge and personality were wonderful. What a wonderful young man! We had an incredible time.JH, Cape & Kruger II 2015
The tour met all of my expectations. Rob Williams is an excellent tour guide – knowledgeable, manages logistics well, interacts with participants in a fun and caring way, and strives to find the birds that are on participants’ “wish lists”.RH, Peru
Adam Walleyn acted as a very experienced and skilful leader. He had an intimate knowledge of the birds and great skills in finding and showing them. His communication was extremely clear, to the point and flavoured with a good sense of humour. In the few difficult situations that arose due to flights, civil unrest, etc, he showed extremely good skills in handling these with a perfect balance between group decisions and executive decisions. A role model for a tour leader.BA, Papua New Guinea
Rob Williams was a brilliant guide in all respects. Throughout the three weeks, he gave the group his all. He is outstanding, and we would love to travel with him again.TE, Northern Peru 2015
André our game ranger for the third time once again is impeccable! His eyesight is actually too good for words!J
Rich and David are very different personalities and from a client’s perspective, they were a dream team. David is an extraordinarily good birder, with huge amounts of bird knowledge. He is probably the nicest bird guide I have ever met and was always good-humoured. He might be the fastest draw in the West to put a bird in the scope.AN, Bhutan
Our recently concluded tour of Tanzania/Kenya, led by Rainer, was perhaps the best overall tour I’ve ever been on. The birding was good, the mammals great, as were the accommodations and food. Everything about the tour was outstanding, including Rainer’s leadership. It was the second time I’ve been on tour with Rainer (Madagascar, 2008) and hope to do so again…. CheersD, Kenya & Tanzania
Dennis’s knowledge & ability to imitate bird calls is phenomenal. He is also an interesting person to travel with. I enjoyed Eric’s humour and felt he handled the group well.M, Malaysia & Borneo
The birds were magnificent, and when you combine this with the awesome guide combo of Adam Walleyn and the ‘Big G’ (Gareth Robbins), it made for a once in a lifetime trip. Thanks again Rockjumper for delivering a first-class birding experience.DH & RD, Papua New Guinea
